6. NEW BUSINESS <br />B. Sample -Ewing Development Area <br />(2) continued... <br />Ms. Greene reminded the Commission that <br />under section 36- 7- 14 -22(h) of the Indiana <br />Code, for a period of thirty days after the <br />opening of the written offers, the property <br />may not be sold or leased for a price less <br />than the amount listed on the offering sheets. <br />However, staff may negotiate after the offers <br />are opened. <br />Mr. Laurent noted that staff is confident that <br />agreements can be worked out with both of <br />the interested bidders. <br />Upon a motion by Ms. Jones, seconded by <br />Mr. Blake and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission rejected the bids submitted and <br />directed staff to continue negotiations with <br />all interested parties. <br />(3) Commission authorization requested for <br />the South Bend Parks Department to use <br />recently acquired Commission property <br />located in the Sample -Ewing <br />Development Area for storage of <br />miscellaneous Parks equipment. (718 E. <br />Sample Street) <br />Mr. Williams advised that the Parks <br />Department has requested the use of recently <br />acquired Redevelopment Commission <br />property located at 718 E. Sample Street for <br />storage of picnic tables and assorted parks <br />equipment. The Parks Department has <br />agreed to maintain the lot, pay all utilities <br />associated with the building and indemnify <br />the Commission from all responsibility <br />regarding the property. Staff recommends <br />approval and the Legal Department will <br />draft the necessary agreement. <br />14 <br />COMMISSION REJECTED THE BIDS SUBMITTED <br />AND DIRECTED STAFF TO CONTINUE <br />NEGOTIATIONS WITH ALL INTERESTED PARTIES. <br />
