South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting— September 19, 2003
(41 6. NEW BUSINESS
B. Tax Abatements
(1) continued...
Mr. Alexberg expressed that a fair amount
of progress has been made on the former
Alro Steel building. The familiar big green
tower has been removed and the ceilings
lowered, reducing a great amount of heat
loss. Floors have been repaired and
approximately one third of the concrete has
been removed and replaced. The manual
welding operation has already been moved
to the facility. Those employees have been
working in the building for two weeks.
Additional renovations expected to be
completed in October will make room for
the equipment that is being discussed today.
The largest part of the expense is a 5000
Model laser which will be the largest in the
Northern Indiana area in terms of cutting
capacity. This laser will allow General
Sheet Metal the opportunity to solicit new
customers.
Upon a motion by Mr. Kahn, seconded by
Mr. Blake and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved Resolution No. 2002
approving an application for personal
property tax deduction for property located
at 1902 S. Main Street in the Sample -Ewing
Development Area. (General Sheet Metal
Works, Inc.)
C.
