A motion was made by Mr. Mullins to approve maintenance vouchers for May 2010 totaling <br /> $1,084,241.55. <br /> It was seconded by Mr. Goodrich. There being no further discussion,the motion was passed. <br /> VII. Business of Director St. Clair <br /> 1. Director St. Clair reported that he felt that the memorandum of understanding with the <br /> Zoological Society would be ready for consideration by the Board at the next meeting. <br /> 2. The Park Department is taking on a graffiti abatement project for the City. It is <br /> estimated there are 600 graffiti sites in the City currently. In addition to a 3-4 person <br /> removal crew, a comprehensive program is planned to identify, track,remove, and prevent <br /> graffiti in the City utilizing other departments as well. <br /> 3. The MOU for Voorde Park is not ready for approval. <br /> 4. He spoke to the Democratic caucus of the Common Council regarding Miracle Park. <br /> 5. The Blues Fest will be held June 11. It is a fund raiser for Miracle Park. <br /> 6. Included in the pending capital request before the Common Council is $1.2M for the <br /> Conservatory for upgrades to the facility. Miracle Park funds are part of this request also, <br /> that will be up for second and third reading on June 13. <br /> 7. LaSalle Park parking problems are much improved due to the efforts of the Park Police. <br /> 8. The Department received an award from the Michiana Area Construction Industry for <br /> the Chris Wilson Pavilion in the municipal category. <br /> VIII. Comments by the Recreation Director <br /> 1. Ms. O'Connor reported that a new fishing class is being offered at Pinhook. It will be <br /> offered for four Saturdays. <br /> 2 The Mother's Day Equestrian ride was held at Potato Creek. <br /> 3. The Bike the Bend program was impacted by the rain on Sunday. <br /> 4. The Wellness Program is hosting lunch and learn programs through the summer. <br /> 5. Preschool at O'Brien ended this week and they are getting ready for Kid's World summer <br /> camp. <br /> 6. The softball leagues have been affected by the rain this spring. <br /> 7. The intramural flag football program at Edison School finishes tomorrow. <br /> IX. Comments by the Development Director <br /> 1. Mr. Payton thanked Mr. Carboneau for updating the Park Board on the Park <br /> Foundation. <br /> 2. The Blues Fest advertising is going well using several media to get the word out. <br /> 3. He will be meeting with the recreation staff to help with advertising and marketing <br /> their programs. <br /> 4. Planning has started for the Superintendent's Golf Outing. <br /> 5. A Miracle Park Stakeholder's meeting was held. <br /> - -3 - - <br />
