South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting —May 7, 2004
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. South Bend Central Development Area
(3) Commission approval requested for
Resolution No. 2055 adopting certain
findings related to property located at
305 East Colfax Street and approving the
temporary use of 305 East Colfax Street
by East Race Fire Arts, LLC.
Mr. Mathia requested that, due to its length,
the staff report relating to Resolution
No. 2055 be incorporated into the minutes
and highlighted the report as follows:
An artists group, East Race Fire Arts
(ERFA), has requested temporary use of the
property located at 305 East Colfax Street
(commonly known as the PAC Building)
which the Commission acquired in 2003. It
is the Commission's intent to demolish the
building and construct a parking facility that
would complement Holladay Corporation's
planned development on the old Wharf site.
In the interim, some of the benefits of
allowing use of the PAC Building by ERFA
would be postponed demolition,
maintenance of the property and building,
and added vitality to the area. Staff
recommends approving the temporary use of
the property by East Race Fire Arts, a
subsidiary of Sculptural Arts, LLC.
Ms. Greene advised that because of the
unusual circumstances being asked of the
Commission with respect to Commission
owned property, Resolution No. 2055 has
been prepared which adopts certain findings
related to the temporary use of the building
7
