Petition from citizens and stakeholders <br />regarding purchase and demolition of the 500 <br />block of South Michigan Street. (Fat Daddy's <br />Block) <br />Mr. Inks noted that a petition was received from <br />citizens and stakeholders in the 500 block of S. <br />Michigan Street, more commonly monl referred to as the <br />Fat Daddy's block. We urge South Bend city qfficials, <br />elected and otherwise, to pursue alternative native uses <br />for the existino, buildings, for the purposes of both <br />preserving vin ur architectural a h r ita e and �i�hw eve <br />believe o be a in re pr tident use QfPublic,fiinds. <br />Mr. Inks noted that there are 475 signaturcs on the <br />petition. There has not been any kind of <br />ver'f eat'on of those signatures. <br />Mr. Ding stated that he believes the petition is <br />objecting to something for which there is no plan. <br />He has no knowledge of any Commission meeting <br />he has attended or any paperwork hc has seen that <br />says anything about demolishing buildings in the <br />'at Daddy's block. <br />Ms. Martha Lewis said that she pulled an article <br />off the Intemet from Inside Indiana Business <br />e .ti.tled, "South Bead Plans for New Development <br />Downtown." Number 8 in the list of things <br />planned for downtown was "de no ition of the Fat <br />Daddy's block."'
