Approval of Minutes of the Regular Meeting of <br />Friday, June 22, 2007. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by Mr. <br />Peczkowski and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission approved the Minutes of the Regular <br />Meeting of Friday, June 22, 2007. <br />3. APPROVAL OF CLAIMS <br />Ms. Jones took the opportunity to explain the process <br />that precedes Approval of Claims. The items listed on <br />the Claims List represent Redevelopment's operating <br />expenses as well as project costs. Money for operating <br />expenses is generally appropriated at the beginning of <br />each year. There is a budget process and the budget is <br />appropriated by Common Council resolution. Many of <br />the claims on the list come right out of that <br />appropriation. Projects are first proposed, then vetted, <br />discussed and approved. Costs for those projects appear <br />in the form of claims for appraisals, surveys, <br />construction and demolition work, environmental work, <br />etc. All of this work goes through a bid or proposal <br />process. Contracts for the work are issued.
