6. <br />South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting —June 28, 2011 <br />been a part of the negotiation of that agreement. <br />He believes there's a revenue stream sufficient to <br />cover the cost of this survey. He doubts <br />Mishawaka is paying for its survey. <br />Mr. Downes said he thinks the Reliant Networks' <br />proposal is a great idea. He's involved with a <br />business with 55 to 60 employees in downtown <br />South Bend. The Metronet's $8,000 - $12,000 <br />entry fee has been a stumbling block for his <br />company. He encounters businesses on a weekly <br />basis that are coming to South Bend because of the <br />Metronet. Because the city has made this major <br />investment, we have a responsibility to make sure <br />the future is successful as well. <br />Mr. Downes made a motion to accept the proposal <br />from Reliant Network. Ms. King seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed with a vote of four in <br />favor. Mr. Varner was opposed. Upon a motion <br />by Mr. Downes, seconded by Ms. King and <br />unanimously carried, the Commission approved <br />the Proposal from Radiant Networks to investigate <br />the feasibility of a wireless network in downtown <br />South Bend. <br />Mr. Inks asked that the Public Hearing listed on the <br />Agenda as Item 6.J.(1) be moved to the top of New <br />Business and considered at this time. There was no <br />objection and the item was so moved. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />J. Public Hearing <br />(1) Public Hearing on Resolution No. 2901 <br />confirming a resolution amending the <br />Development Plan for the Northeast <br />Neighborhood Development Area. <br />Mr. Inks noted that this is the public hearing <br />which is the final step to amend the <br />10 <br />COMMISSION APPROVED THE PROPOSAL FROM <br />RADIANT NETWORKS TO INVESTIGATE THE <br />FEASIBILITY OF A WIRELESS NETWORK IN <br />DOWNTOWN SOUTH BEND <br />
