4 SOUTH 8W
U\
Community & Economic Development
Division of Community Development Y186S
1200 County-City Building, 227 West Jefferson, South Bend, Indiana 46601-1 830 ♦ Phone 574/235-9660 ♦ Fax 574/235-9697
To : Redevelopment Commisioners
F r o m : Liz Maradik, CED
S u b j e c t : Resolution 2901 —Northeast Neighborhood Design Guidelines
D a t e : June 28, 2011
In August 2009 a Declaratory Resolution adopting the Northeast Neighborhood Design Guidelines
(Design Guidelines) and amending the Northeast Neighborhood Development Area (NNDA) Plan
was approved by the Commission and was later approved by the APC and the Common Council. It
was recently discovered that the Design Guidelines were not brought back to the Redevelopment
Commission for a confirming resolution; in an effort to correct this oversight, Confirming Resolution
2901 will incorporate the Design Guidelines into the NNDA Plan.
The original Design Guidelines were developed in 2004 then during 2008-2009 the Northeast
Neighborhood Revitalization Organization (NNRO) and neighborhood residents worked to update
the Design Guidelines for incorporation into the NNDA Plan. Know that the Design Guidelines are
the basis for the NNDA Overlay Zoning District which is currently in the process of being
incorporated into the Zoning Ordinance.
A copy of the Design Guidelines have been provided for your review. A representative of the
NNRO and I will be available to answer any questions you may have at the upcoming meeting.
What We Do Today Makes A Difference!
