COMMi7NITY AND ECONOMIC` DEVELOPMENT Ju[Y 23, 2007
Present: Kirsits, White, Puzzello (Wolfson, Panzica)
Bill Nos. 07-89
07-90
07-91
Continued Indefinitely
Bob Mathia from Community & Economic Development reported that the
Redevelopment Commission by a vote of 2 in favor and 1 against derailed three
abatement petitions. The Redevelopment commission requires 3 far a quorum but if only
three are present, the vote must be unanimous to send petitions forward. Nonetheless
Bob stated due to severe time constraints GWSB properties asked for a vote of
encouragement from the Council to go ahead with Bi1107-90. By doing this the council
would in effect waive the construction in progress rule. Councilmember Varner okayed a
go ahead as long as the petitioner understood it was not a guarantee. Marty Wolfson
expressed concern this action would be precedent setting. Phil Panzica pointed out it was
not the petitioner's deficiency but the Redevelopment's for stalling the abatement.
Councilmember White motioned and Councilmember Varner seconded a good faith
motion to encourage the developer to go ahead instructing them to file a separate waiver
resolution along wit the declaratory resolution. The motion passed without dissent.
Bill No. 07-92
624 N. Notre Dame Avenue, S year residential abatement petition. Bob Mathia described
the project as an 8 unit "Philadelphia Row House" Building, 2 '/2 story, full basement,
1800 - 2200 square feet, projected tax abated $252,000.00, tax paid aver 5 years
$2,230.00. The zoning here is okay, further, Andrew Nemeth, the developer described
the units as selling between $325-$385 thousand dollars, pointing out 3 of the S units has
already sold. Councilmember White made a motion to send this bill to the full Council
with a favorable recommendation. Councilmember Puzzello seconded the motion, which
carried.
I,tespectfully mi d,
Derek D. Dieter, Chairperson
Community and Economic Development
