Community & Economic Development Committee <br />August 14, 2006 <br />Present: <br />Roland Kelly, Chairperson <br />Ann Puzzello <br />Al Kirsits <br />Erv Kuspa <br />Marti Wolfson -Citizen Mezx~ber <br />Bill Na. 06-~9 -Tax Abatement - 128 S. Michigan, South Bend Chocolate Company, <br />Bill Schalliol of Community & Economic Development described the project which <br />would create 10 new jobs full time, 10 part-time jobs and help anaaintain 40 existing jobs. <br />SBC is asking fora 5 year real property abatement. Jennifer Laurent of Community & <br />Economic Development stated the city's strong support for the project. Bob Radde of <br />South Bend Chocolate said the number of jabs was probably underestimated. <br />Councilmember Puzzello made a motion to recammend favorable to full Council. <br />Councilmember Kuspa seconded the motion, which carried by voice vote of four ayes. <br />Bill No. 06-80 -- Tax Abatement - 907 Notre Dame Avenue, Geraldine Meehan & Cyril <br />O'Regan. This 5 year real property abatement was described by Bill Schalliol as a 2,200 <br />square foot home between Howard and Corby. Geraldine Meehan made the presentation. <br />Councilmember Kuspa made a motion to recammend favorable to full Council. <br />Councilmember Al "Buddy" Kirsits seconded the motion, whack carried by a voice vote <br />of four ayes. <br />Bill No. 06-81 -Tax Abatement - 202 S. Dundee, Charlotte Bridges. The five year <br />residential real property request was outlined by Bill Schalliol. Citizen Member Marti <br />Wolfson made a motion to recommend favorable to full Council. Councilmember Kirsits <br />seconded the motion, whack carried by a voice vote of four ayes. <br />Bill No. 06-83 -Tax Abatement -~ 525 S. Liberty, Habitat for Humanity. This request <br />has been withdrawn at the petitioner's request. Councilmember Puzzello made a motion <br />to withdraw the petition at the request of the petitioner. Councilmember Kirsits seconded <br />the motion, which carried by a voice vote of four ayes. <br />
