COMMUNITYAND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br />2006 Common Council <br />The May 22, 2006 meeting of the Community and Economic Development Committee <br />was called to order by its Chairperson, Councilmember Roland Kelly, at 4:00 p.m. in the <br />Council Informal Meeting Roam. <br />Persons in attendance included Council Members Kelly, Puzzello, Professor Martin <br />Wolfson, Citizen Member on the Community and Economic Development Committee, <br />Bob Mathia ,Community and Economic Development, and Mike Urbanski, Garden <br />Homes. <br />Bill No. 06-45 Tax Abatement .... 3425 West Lathro Drive -McCormick & <br />Company (personal Property) <br />Presented by Bab Mathia of Economic Development who described the petition for <br />personal property abatement adding the Redevelopment committee reviewed the petition <br />favorable. A representative form McCormick, Tony Cuskaden, described the expansion <br />and 13 million dollars in equipment along with 48 new jobs the project brings to the city. <br />McCormick is to use local labor to expand. Martin Wolfson painted out the fact that the <br />personal property statute does not have a social benefit point scheme as does the real <br />property requirements. Agreement was reached this should be explored. Wolfson <br />congratulated McCormick on their wage scale. Councilmember Puzzello made a motion, <br />seconded by Citizen Member Martin Wolfson that Sill No. 06-45 be recommended <br />favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br />Bill No 06-46 Tax Abatement -Various Addresses Lindenwood Dr. South, N. Hill <br />Street Kalorama St. W. 3efferson Liston St. St. Louis Street and Howard Street <br />(Residential_Paro e <br />This is a petition from Garden Homes, represented by Mike Urbanski, for real property <br />tax abatement for 20 homes in the West Washington -Chapin Area and the NNE. Bob <br />Mathia said the Redevelopment Commission recommends this bill Favorable to Council. <br />Councilmember Puzzello made a motion, seconded by Citizen Member Martin Wolfson <br />that Bill No. 06-46 be recommended favorable to Council. The motion passed. <br />Bill No. 06-47 HUD Economic Develo ment Initiative Grant <br />This bill is continued until the June 12, 2005 meeting at the request of the petitioner. <br />Councilmember Kelly then adjourned the meeting at 4:19 p.m. <br />Res ectfully submitted, <br />~, <br />Councilmember Roland Kelly, Chairperson, Community and Economic Development <br />Committee <br />
