(1) Building drain (sanitary). A building drain which conveys sanitary or <br />industrial sewage only. <br />(2) Building drain (storm). A building drain which conveys storm water <br />or other clean water drainage, but not wastewater. <br />Q Building (or house) lateral sewer means the extension from the building drain <br />to the sewage system or other place of disposal. (Also called house connections.) <br />(1) Building sewer (sanitary). A building sewer which conveys sanitary <br />or industrial sewage only. <br />(2) Building sewer (storm). A building sewer which conveys storm water <br />or other clean water drainage, but not wastewater. <br />Caronaceous biochemical oxygen demand (or CBOD) of sewage, sewage <br />effluent, polluted waters or industrial wastes means the rate at which <br />microorganisms use the oxygen in water or wastewater while stabilizing <br />decomposable carbonaceous organic matter under aerobic conditions. The <br />laboratory determinations shall be made in accordance with procedures set forth <br />in "Standard Methods" as defined in this article. <br />W Cate orical Industrial User CIU means an Industrial User subject to a <br />categorical Pretreatment Standard or cateizorical .Standard. <br />Chemical oxygen demand (or COD) of sewiage, sewage effluent, pellut <br />aer-s er- industFial wastes is means a measure of the oxygen aparaity <br />Methods)' reauired to oxidize all compounds, both organic and inorganic. in <br />water. <br />(m) City means the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Ln) City Engineer means the City Engineer of the City, or his authorized deputy, <br />agent or representative. <br />Lol Collector sewer means a sewer whose primary purpose is to collect <br />wastewaters from individual point source discharges. <br />�p) Combined sewer means a sewer intended to receive both wastewater and <br />storm or surface water. <br />4 <br />
