DEROSE <br />CjwATr0RNFY May 18, 2011 CHjuAsS sayr CrrYATroRNEY <br />Mr. Derek Dieter, President <br />South Bend Common Council z) <br />4th Floor County -City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />RE: Proposed Addition of a Parcel to the Airport Economic <br />Development Area Acquisition List <br />3408 Ardmore Trail <br />Dear President Dieter: <br />Attached for the Common Council's consideration is a proposed resolution which <br />approves an order of the St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission approving a declaratory <br />resolution adopted by the South Bend Redevelopment Commission. . <br />This process began when the South Bend Redevelopment Commission (RDC) conducted <br />a study and determined that it is necessary and beneficial to the orderly redevelopment of the <br />Airport Economic Development Area (AEDA) to add an additional parcel to the AEDA <br />Acquisition List. Upon making this determination, the RDC passed a resolution declaring the <br />necessity of adding this parcel. The declaratory resolution of the RDC was sent to the St. Joseph <br />County Area Plan Commission (APC) for an order approving the RDC's action. The APC has <br />approved the declaratory resolution. The AFC's resolution is now submitted to the South Bend <br />City Common Council for its approval. <br />3408 Ardmore Trail is an 83,000 square foot commercial building on 8 acres. The <br />acquisition of this property would allow the Commission to consolidate it with the abutting 8,7 <br />acre Commission owned property, making a larger, more marketable property for <br />redevelopment. <br />Either Bill Schalliol or another staff member from the Division of Economic <br />Development will present this Resolution to the Common Council. <br />Thank you for your consideration. <br />Since 6 <br />ce . ` Wteiver <br />resistant City Attorney <br />THOMAS L.
