REGULAR MEETINGMAY 9, 2005 <br />(ATFE), the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, and area law <br />enforcement agencies continued success in effectively working together in making our streets <br />and city safer. <br />Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption <br />by the Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />stth <br />Derek D. Luecke, Mayor <br />Councilmember Derek D. Dieter, 1135 Portage Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, made the <br />presentation for this Resolution by first offering his comments and then reading the Resolution in <br />its entirety and presenting it to members of the Project Disarm Task Force. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />Special Agent David Allbritten, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives, stated that on <br />behalf of Project Disarm they are humbled by this honor. This honor is for all the men and <br />women in law enforcement, whose cooperation that the Task Force works with on a day to day <br />basis in St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties.Through funding from Project Safe Neighborhoods a <br />Department of Justice Initiative they will continue the effort with integrity and ethics that these <br />communities demand from law enforcement. <br />U.S. Deputy District Attorney Donald Schmid, South Bend, Indiana, spoke on behalf of the U.S. <br />Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Department of Justice, that they are honored to be working in <br />close cooperation with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the City of South Bend <br />Police Department, St. Joseph County Police Department, and the Elkhart City Police <br />Department. Mr. Schmid stated that with those kinds of cooperative efforts between various law <br />enforcement agencies that we can dedicate the kind of resources to make our streets safer and our <br />communities a better place to live. Mr. Schmid thanked the Council for this great honor. <br />Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation.
