Mr. Ted Foty advised that on behalf of the Board of Directors of Memorial Hospital, he thanked
the South Bend Common Council for this great honor. Memorial Hospital has had one goal in its
one hundred and eleven (111) years, and that was to design, create and to execute a healthcare
delivery system to make certain that individuals in the community received the most updated and
contemporary care that is available. Memorial would not be able to do this without the help of
certain partnerships in the Community. A strong partnership that has provided the vehicle, the
support and the endorsement to make this happen has come through the years from the
Administration of the City of South Bend and through many governing boards and particularly
the City Council.
Ms. Nancy Hellyer, CEO, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, spoke on behalf of all the
wonderful employees who work each day to serve the residents of this wonderful community. It
has always been the aim and the mission of the Sister’s of the Holy Cross and still is their aim as
they direct St. Joseph Regional Medical Center today, to improve the health of our community.
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center will continue to work to do so, in order to serve St. Joseph
County and South Bend, Indiana, in the best way and shape possible. Ms. Hellyer asked that
during this week to pay special attention to health care workers, friends, family members, anyone
