REGULAR MEETINGMARCH 14, 2005 <br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the <br />Common Council hereby declares the month of March, 2005 as Disability Awareness <br />Month. <br />Section II. The South Bend Common Council publicly honors and thanks the <br />following entities for their many contributions in assisting the disabled in our community, <br />namely: the Legal Services Program of Northern Indiana, Inc., Goodwill Industries of <br />Michiana, Inc., Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and the IU South Bend Office of <br />Disabled Student Services. <br />Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its <br />adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />stth <br />s/Derek D. Luecke, Mayor of South Bend <br />Councilmember Kirsits made the presentation for this Resolution by reading it in its <br />entirety and presenting it to representatives of Legal Services of Northern Indiana; <br />Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc., Vocational Rehabilitation Services; and IU South <br />Bend Office of Disabled Student Services. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />Angelica Mueller, Legal Services of Northern Indiana, thanked the Council for this <br />Resolution. She stated that Indiana Legal Services of Northern Indiana has had the <br />opportunity to provide services throughout various Northern Indiana Counties. <br />Larry Neff, Goodwill Industries, thanked the Council for this honor. Mr. Neff advised <br />that Goodwill Industries employs 175 people with at estimated payroll of $125,000 a <br />week. Mr. Neff stated that it takes 1,600 people to donate items everyday, 365 days a <br />year to keep that number of employees busy each and every day. <br />Eric Wagenfeld, Indiana University South Bend Office of Disabled Student Services, <br />thanked the Council for this Resolution. He stated that IUSB provides a full range of <br />support services to students with disabilities. <br />There was no one else present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this Resolution. <br />Councilmember Kirsits made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. <br />Councilmember Puzzello seconded the motion which carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3429-05 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON <br /> COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, DECLARING THE <br /> MONTH OF MARCH 2005 AS WOMEN’S <br /> HISTORY MONTH AND COMMENDING <br /> ST.
