REGULAR MEETINGFEBRUARY 28, 2005 <br />WHEREAS, in addition to expertly handling the self-insurance program, Robert C. <br />Rosenfeld has provided exceptional legal assistance in collections declaring with property <br />damage, sewer claims, ordinance violations, parking tickets, and Community <br />Development foreclosures and collections; addressing many Bureau of Water Works <br />issues including successfully settling the litigation over the contamination of the Olive <br />Street well field; has reviewed countless parking ticket appeals and has handled many <br />workers compensation cases on behalf of the city. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the <br />Common Council hereby publicly thanks and commends Deputy City Attorney Robert C. <br />Rosenfeld for his many years of dedicated public service in the City’s Legal Department. <br />Section II. The South Bend Common Council wishes Deputy City Attorney Robert C. <br />Rosenfeld and his wife, Debbie, many years of great golfing and culinary adventures <br />together; and wishes Bob many memorable and unforgettable times with his daughter, <br />Shelly, and his son, Aaron, in the years ahead. <br />Section III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption <br />by the Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />s/Derek D. Luecke, Mayor <br />Councilmember David Varner, 1306 Clayton Drive, South Bend, Indiana, made the <br />presentation for this Resolution by first offering his comments and then reading the <br />Resolution in its entirety and presenting it to Robert Rosenfeld. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />Bob Rosenfeld thanked the City Administration and staff of the Legal Department, <br />especially Dean Tinkel, Thomas Bodnar, Ann Carol-Nash, Cheryl Greene and Jeff <br />Jankowski for whom it has been a pleasure to work with. <br />Chuck Leone, City Attorney, 1400 County-City Building, South Bend, Indiana, thanked <br />Bob for his many years of dedicated service. Chuck stated that during Bob’s tenure on <br />the staff of the Legal Department he had processed approximately 5,000 self-insurance <br />claims. Granting approximately 2,000 denial claims, saving the City of South Bend a <br />considerable amount of money. <br />Cheryl Greene, Assistant City Attorney, 1400 County-City Building, South Bend, <br />Indiana, thanked Bob for being a mentor, colleague and friend over the years. She <br />wished Bob and his wife Debbie many happy years to come. <br />Jeff Jankowski, Deputy City Attorney, 1400 County-City Building, South Bend, Indiana, <br />stated that he would miss Bob for his wisdom and knowledge and all the missed gossip <br />from Tom’s Restaurant. <br />Councilmember Kelly made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. <br />Councilmember Puzzello seconded the motion which carried. <br />2 <br /> <br />
