REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 24,2005 <br />Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption <br />by the Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />s/Derek D. Dieter, First District s/David Varner, Fifth District <br />s/Charlotte D. Pfeifer, Second District s/Ervin Kuspa, Sixth District <br />s/Roland Kelly, Third District s/Timothy A. Rouse, At-Large <br />s/Ann Puzzello, Fourth District s/Al “Buddy” Kirsits, At-Large <br />s/Karen L. White, At-Large s/Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand <br />ATTEST: <br />s/John Voorde, City Clerk s/Stephen J. Luecke, Mayor <br />Councilmember Ervin Kuspa, 434 South Liberty Street, South Bend, Indiana, made the <br />presentation for this Resolution by reading it in its entirety, offering his comments and <br />presenting it to Fire Chief Robert X. Quinn, III. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />Councilmember Al “Buddy” Kirsits stated that he was a rookie 25 years ago and that Bob <br />Quinn was his first Battalion Chief. Councilmember Kirsits further noted that it was an <br />honor and a privilege to work with Chief Quinn and wishes him all the very best in his <br />retirement. <br />Luther Taylor, 2529 Gordon Circle, South Bend, Indiana, thanked Bob for all his years of <br />dedicated and loyal service to the South Bend Fire Department. Mr. Taylor wished him <br />many happy years in his retirement. <br />There was no one else present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this Resolution. <br />Councilmember Kelly made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. <br />Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried. <br />Chief Robert Quinn thanked the Council for the honor of this Resolution. He stated that <br />it has been an honor and a privilege to work with the Council, City Administration & <br />Departments, and the Residents of the City of South Bend. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3413-05 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON <br /> COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, PUBLICLY <br /> COMMENDING SOUTH BEND CITY <br /> CONTROLLER FREDERICK B. OLLETT, <br /> III FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO <br /> THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />Whereas, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that on <br />st <br />the 31 day of October, 2001, Mayor Stephen J. Luecke appointed Frederick “Rick” B. <br />Ollett, III to be the City Controller of South Bend, Indiana; and <br />Whereas, the Council recognizes that the Administration and Finance Department, under <br />Mr. Ollett’s leadership, again receivedin January of 2004, the “Certificate of <br />Achievement in Financial Reporting” award which is issued by the Governmental <br />Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and is the highest form of recognition in <br />governmental accounting and financial reporting; and <br />Whereas, Mr. Ollett has been an instrumental leader in advancing Mayor Luecke’s theme <br />We’re Building South Bend” <br />of “, by developing budgets which have been fiscally sound <br />and dedicated to building strong neighborhoods, building a safe city, building an <br />5 <br /> <br />
