<br />ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING JANUARY 3, 2005 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in <br />the Council Chambers of the County-City Building on Monday, January 3, 2005, at 5:00 <br />p.m. The meeting was called to order by Councilmember White and the Invocation and <br />Pledge to the Flag were given. <br />ROLL CALL <br />COUNCILMEMBERS: <br />st <br />Present: Derek D. Talboom Deputy City Clerk <br />ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT FOR 2005 <br />Councilmember Kelly nominated Councilmember Pfeifer for the office of President. <br />Councilmember White seconded the motion. Councilmember Dieter nominated <br />Councilmember Puzzello for the office of President. Councilmember Varner seconded <br />the motion. Councilmember Kelly made a motion to close the nominations. <br />Councilmember Dieter seconded the motion. A roll call vote for the nomination of <br />Councilmember Pfeifer for the office of President was taken. 5 ayes (Councilmember’s <br />Pfeifer, Kelly, Kuspa, Rouse and White) 4 nays (Councilmember’s Dieter, Puzzello, <br />Varner, and Kirsits). Councilmember Pfeifer was elected President of the South Bend <br />Common Council. President Pfeifer thanked the Councilmembers that supported her and <br />the Councilmembers who supported Councilmember Puzzello. <br />ELECTION OF COUNCIL VICE-PRESIDENT FOR 2005 <br />Council President Pfeifer nominated Councilmember White for the office of Vice- <br />President. Councilmember Kelly seconded the motion. Councilmember Kelly made a <br />motion to close the nominations. Councilmember Rouse seconded the motion. The <br />motion carried by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON – COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE FOR 2005 <br />Councilmember White nominated Councilmember Kelly for the office of Chairperson, <br />Committee of the Whole. Councilmember Rouse seconded the motion. Councilmember <br />Kuspa made a motion to close the nominations. Councilmember Puzzello seconded the <br />motion. The motion carried by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />1 <br /> <br />
