REGULAR MEETING MAY 9 2011 170 <br /> discussion, upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the report <br /> was accepted and filed. <br /> FILING OF MONTHLY REPORT—DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> The Division of Water Works submitted their Monthly Report for April 2011. These reports <br /> reflect injuries/accidents for each month and provide for a comparison. There being no further <br /> discussion, upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the report <br /> was accepted and filed. <br /> FILING OF CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE <br /> Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the Certificate of <br /> Insurance for J.W. Wertz& Son, Inc., South Bend, Indiana was accepted for filing: <br /> RATIFY APPROVAL AND/OR RELEASE CONTRACTOR AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br /> Mr. Anthony Molnar, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following Contractor and <br /> Excavation Bonds be ratified pursuant to Resolution 100-2000 and/or released as follows: <br /> Business Bond Type Approved/ Effective Date <br /> Released <br /> Torok Excavating, Inc. Contractor Approved April 27, 2011 <br /> McIntyre Jones, Inc. Contractor Reinstated May 1, 2011 <br /> Torok Excavating, Inc. Excavation Approved April 27, 2011 <br /> McIntyre Jones, Inc. Excavation I Reinstated May 1, 2011 <br /> Mr. Littrell made a motion that the bonds approval and/or release as outlined above be ratified. <br /> Mr. Inks seconded the motion, which carried. <br /> APPROVE CLAIMS <br /> Mr. Inks stated that a request to pay the following claims in the amounts indicated has been <br /> received by the Board; each claim is fully supported by an invoice; the person receiving the <br /> goods or services has approved the claims; and the claims have been filed with the City Fiscal <br /> Officer and certified for accuracy. <br /> Name Amount of Claim Date <br /> City of South Bend $2,489,527.07 05/09/2011 <br /> St. Joseph County Housing Consortium $14,073.10 04/14/2011 <br /> St. Joseph County Housing Consortium $1,567.08 04/14/2011 <br /> St. Joseph County Housing Consortium $6,000.00 04/23/2011 <br /> Therefore, Mr. Inks made a motion that after review of the expenditures, the claims be approved <br /> as submitted. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion, which carried. <br /> PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR <br /> Mr. Murray Miller, Local No. 645, asked the Board if an addendum was sent out on Friday for <br /> the demolition project bid openings today. Mr. Brett Konarski, Wightman Petrie, confirmed that <br /> addendums were sent out that added some cost for the Airgas property with an increase in <br /> sidewalks. Mr. Gilot stated it is okay to add an addendum but it is not the City's policy or <br /> practice to add one that late in the project. Ms. Cheryl Greene, Legal, added that there is nothing <br /> statutory prohibiting the sending of an addendum at a late date, it is just not the City's preferred <br /> policy. She added that all of the bidders responded to the addendum in their bids. <br /> Mr. Miller questioned whether the results of the quote award for the 2011 Cold Milling would be <br /> posted on the website. Mr. Gilot stated they would not since it was a quote. He stated three <br /> quotes were received and opened at the Street Department, and the award is going to the low <br /> quoter. Mr. Gilot noted the Clerk has instructed the Street Department to have quotes sent to the <br /> Board of Works for opening at a public meeting in the future. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, <br /> seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the meeting adjourned at 10:35 a.m. <br /> BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />
