REGULAR MEETINGNOVEMBER 27, 2006 <br />Councilmember Timothy A. Rouse, 605 N. Cherry Tree Ln, South Bend, Indiana, made <br />the presentation for this Resolution by first offering his comments and then reading the <br />Resolution in its entirety and presenting it to Mr. Rob Staley. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this Resolution. <br />Mr. Staley thanked the Council for this honor.He stated that the Crossings provides for <br />at-risk youths who struggle with schooling and offer an encouraging environment which <br />focuses on the theme of “education addresses all aspects of a student’s life.” <br />Councilmember Kelly made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. <br />Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3663-06 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> PUBLICLY COMMENDING THE BROWN <br /> INTERMEDIATE CENTER BOY’S SOCCER <br /> TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2006 SOUTH BEND <br /> SCHOOL COMMUNITY CORPORATION’S <br /> CITY CHAMPIONSHIP <br />Whereas, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is proud to <br />recognize that the Brown Intermediate Center program is designed to meet the academic, <br />thth <br />social, emotional and physical needs of 5 through 8 grade students by providing <br />quality educational instructional programs, and also provides opportunities for boys to <br />learn and enjoy the sport of soccer; and <br />Whereas, the Council notes that this academic year, Brown has a student <br />enrollment of 707, had an attendance rate of 94.3% for the past academic year and <br />provides creative learning studios, physics lab, independent research, technology based <br />instruction, state of the art computer labs, accelerated math and foreign language <br />programs and problem-solving instruction; and <br />Whereas, the Common Council would especially like to publicly recognize Head <br />Coach Dustan Harleyandthe following named student-athletes of the Brown <br />Intermediate Center Boys Soccer Team and all of the individuals associated with the <br />“” <br />Home of the Bisons who scored 85 goals this season while only giving up 4 goals to <br />their opponents, who recorded 7 shutouts: <br />Eric Gee Abdul Kamara Christopher Nduati Edwin Santiago <br />Steven Molina Ali Salman Philip Thompson Jose Angulo <br />Oscar Molina Fredy Yanes Juan Mendoza IeshaArnold, Mgr. <br />Edehr Herrera Patrick Quaye Antonio Garcilazo Emmanuel Toe <br />Makarios Ngure <br />Mario Garcilazo Jair Ramirez-Guzman, Student Coach <br /> Now, Therefore, be it resolved, by the Common Council of South Bend, Indiana, <br />as follows: <br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the <br />Common Council hereby congratulates each and every member of the BROWN <br />INTERMEDIATE CENTER BOYS SOCCER TEAMalong with their principal, <br />Margaret Lewis, and their Athletic Director, Mahlon Lowery, for winning the SOUTH <br />3 <br /> <br />
