REGULAR MEETING APRIL 13.2011 22 <br />Jonathon Kirsits Kyle Wyszynski <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Howard Buchanon, recommended that the above individuals be <br />accepted for employment on a probationary basis with the South Bend Fire Department effective <br />April 13, 2011. Chief Buchanon noted that all of the firefighters have successfully completed the <br />physical and psychological testing required by State Law_ and have been accepted into the <br />Indiana Firefighters 1997 Pension Fund. The local Pension Board voted unanimously to approve <br />these applicants for appointment to the South Bend Fire Department. Mr. BonDurant <br />congratulated those present on behalf of the Board and read the names of each of the firefighters. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Mr. Cottrell and carried, the <br />recommendation for the above individuals to be accepted for employment as probationary <br />firefighters was approved. President Dempsey congratulated the firefighters on behalf of the <br />Bound. <br />Battalion Chief John Corthier, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon, and Mr. Gregg Zientara, City <br />Controller, addressed those present and congratulated the new firefighters. The family members <br />of the firefighters were asked to join them in standing for the swearing in. Mr. John Voorde; City <br />Clerk, administered the Oath of Office to the above listed individuals, and Chief Buchanon <br />pinned their badges on.
