REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 25, 2006 <br />John & Kendra Endright of the Missionaries to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, <br />and all of the congregation members in the many services provided for men, women, <br />youth, Scouts, and visitors to our community and hope that the next 175 years will be just <br />as rewarding and beneficial. <br />Section III . Luecke, Mayor of South Bend <br />Councilmember Kuspa, 434 South Liberty Street, South Bend, Indiana, made the <br />presentation for this Resolution by first offering his comments and then reading the <br />Resolution in its entirety and presenting it to the congregation. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this Resolution. <br />Rev. Dan Berger, First United Methodist Church, thanked the Council for this honor. <br />Rev. Berger stated that it has been a great reward to serve this church. The church has <br />been a historic site in downtown South Bend for 175 years, and like their motto he stated <br />that they are “Downtown for Good.” <br />Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. <br />Councilmember White seconded the motion which carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3640-06 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON <br /> COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, DECLARING <br /> SEPTEMBER 25, 2006 THROUGH <br /> SEPTEMBER 30, 2006 AS RACE <br /> EQUALITY AND INCLUSIVE <br /> COMMUNITIES WEEK IN SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA <br />Whereas, the National League of Cities is the oldest and largest national <br />organization which serves as a resource and advocate for approximately 18,000 cities, <br />towns and villages of all sizes across America, and collectively serves 225 million <br />persons; and <br />Whereas, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes that the <br />thth <br />National League of Cities has designated September 25 through September 30 as the <br />th <br />7 Annual Race Equality and Inclusive Communities Week; and <br />th <br />Whereas, the Common Council recognizes that the 7 Annual Race Equality and <br />Inclusive Communities Week has been established and set aside as a time for <br />communities to reaffirm their commitment to the elimination of racism and <br />3 <br /> <br />
