REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 14, 2006
Councilmember Kirsits, Chairperson, Utilities Committee, reported that this committee
held a Public Hearing on this bill this afternoon and sends it to the full Council with a
favorable recommendation.
John J. Dillon, Director, Environmental Services, 3113 Riverside Drive, South Bend,
Indiana, made the presentation for this bill.
Mr. Dillon advised that this bill allow for the appropriation of $60,365 out of Fund 611 to
pay costs for additional solid waste containers. In 2005 the City received funds for the
purpose of purchasing containers for it’s Solid Waste program. These containers were
distributed during the summer and fall of 2005. This appropriation will allow for 1,176
additional containers to be used as replacements for containers that have been lost or
stolen and also for new customers.
This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents
and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard.
Charlotte Bridges, 222 S. Dundee, South Bend, Indiana, stated that she is in favor of this
bill. She is planning on building a new home in the City of South Bend and would like to
have a nice container.
There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in
opposition to this bill, Councilmember Pfeifer made a motion for favorable
recommendation to full Council concerning this bill as substituted. Councilmember
Dieter seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes.
BILL NO. 45-06 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
APPROPRIATING $159,145 OUT OF FUND 649 TO
MAKE THE FIRST INTEREST PAYMENT ON THE
2006 SEWAGE WORKS REVENUE BOND
Councilmember Kirsits, Chairperson, Utilities Committee, reported that this committee
held a Public Hearing on this bill this afternoon and sends it to the full Council with a
favorable recommendation.
John J.
