The next session <br /> is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, from 5:30 — 7:30 p.m. Applications for <br /> the ten-week course will be accepted until the class is full, and registration is free. <br /> The Local Government Academy provides community members the opportunity to <br /> explore a different aspect of city government each week, gaining a unique perspective on a 21st <br /> Century City in action, from the inside out. The sessions are held on Wednesday evenings for 10 <br /> weeks and will take participants inside city departments where they will be able to view <br /> operations, learn about policies and procedures, and discuss the opportunities and challenges <br /> facing local government today. Sessions take place in the County-City Building and various city <br /> facilities. <br /> The City encourages participation and dialogue with community members to help to <br /> continue to make South Benda 21"Century City. Mayor Luecke said, "Building community <br /> awareness of city programs through communication will help our citizens to understand and fully <br /> utilize our community services to their fullest." <br /> Academy class size is limited to 25.
