Tournament Chairman Terry Bland announced that <br /> Mayors Steve Luecke and Jeff Rea will join in the kickoff of the 82°d Annual Metro Golf <br /> Tournament on Saturday morning at 7:30 am at Elbel Golf Course. The Mayors will fire off the <br /> first round of the day. <br /> The first two rounds will be played at Elbel Golf Course this Saturday and Sunday. The third <br /> round will move to Erskine Golf Course on July 28 and the last round, after the final cut of the <br /> tournament, will be held at the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame on July 29. <br /> "The South Bend District Golf Association encourages interest in the game of golf especially <br /> among area youth while showcasing the great golf courses that South Bend has to offer," said <br /> Bland. "Thanks to the support of Bobick's Pro-Shop, who once again is sponsor of the event, the <br /> SBDGA will donate a portion of the proceeds to South Bend Parks and Recreation Department's <br /> Junior Golf program." "In addition," added Bob Goodrich, South Bend Park Board Member and <br /> long-time SBDGA member, "our Association also emphasizes the importance of education by <br /> providing college scholarships to area high school seniors. This year, $2000 scholarships are <br /> being awarded to three local students who will pursue golf in college. <br /> -more- <br />
