As Assistant City Controller, Murphy's duties will include budgeting and financial <br /> reporting, assisting in annual auditing, managing City accounts and transactions, supervising and <br /> advising City department fiscal staff as well as formulating, analyzing, and managing <br /> departmental budgets. <br /> As Purchasing Manager Mr. Custard will manage, coordinate and direct the City's <br /> purchasing activities. Mr. Custard will report directly to the City Controller, but will meet <br /> closely with all departments in order to efficiently manage the centralized purchasing. <br /> Both men are Indiana natives. Mr. Custard holds a degree from Indiana State University <br /> and is a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Murphy is a South Bend native and 1981 <br /> graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He is currently studying for a Masters Degree in <br /> Public Administration at Indiana University South Bend. He lives here with his three children <br /> Monica(16), Colleen (15), and Mitchell(9). <br /> -30- <br />
