JOSEPH STREET <br /> Mr. Gilot indicated that Mr. Randy Gilleand, 114 Dayton Street, South Bend, 46613, Indiana has <br /> submitted a request to vacate the above referenced alley for the purpose of building a garage <br /> since the applicant owns the properties on both sides of the alley. Mr. Gilot advised the Board is <br /> in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Area Plan <br /> Commission, Police Department, and Community & Economic Development. Mr. Carl Littrell, <br /> Engineering, stated that I&M Electric has a pole line in the alley. He noted the homeowner will <br /> be charged for moving the pole line, and the cost can be very expensive. Mr. Littrell stated I&M <br /> would retain an easement on the vacated alley and the easement will pre-empt development of a <br /> garage within the easement. The Fire Department recommended denial and stated the closest <br /> hydrant is on the corner of Milton and Michigan for structures at the cross of the alleys. <br /> Therefore, Mr. Gilot made a motion that the Clerk send a letter to the petitioner addressing these <br /> concerns.
