Luecke, Mayor <br /> RELEASE FROM: FOR RELEASE: <br /> Office of the Mayor Thursday, May 12, 2005 <br /> National Police Week Events at the new SBPD <br /> Two special events are planned for the new South Bend Police Department Headquarters & Regional <br /> Training Academy, 701 W. Sample, during National Police Week, May 15-21, 2005. The public is invited to <br /> both proceedings. <br /> In honor of the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial, the Fraternal Order Of Police Lodge 36 will <br /> conduct a service remembering South Bend's fallen officers on Wednesday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m. Features <br /> include an honor guard ceremony, 21-gun salute, flag-raising and the South Bend Police & Fire Department <br /> Metropolitan Bagpipe Band. A "Friends & Families" Open House will follow till 7:00 p.m. Tours of the <br /> renovated 118,800 sq. ft. facility will highlight dedications of the Paul Deguch Fitness Area, the Thomas <br /> DeRue Sr. Roll Call Room and Police Memorial Auditorium. <br /> On Thursday, May 19, at 2 p.m., Mayor Stephen Luecke, the South Bend Common Council, South Bend <br /> Police Department Chief Thomas Fautz and colleagues will officially dedicate the new South Bend Police <br /> Department Headquarters & Regional Training Academy. Festivities will include an honor guard ceremony, <br /> lights and sirens, and the dedication of the Paul Deguch and Police Memorial Drives.
