ZONING AND ANNEXATION COMMITTEE 3-14-11 Committee Members Present: Oliver Davis; Tom LaFountain; David Varner Other Council Members Present: Derek Dieter; Karen L.White;Ann Puzzello; Henry Davis; Tim Rouse Others Present: Christa Nayder; Gary Gilot; Chuck Leone; Mayor Stephen Luecke; Kyle Chamberiin; Don Inks; Gregg Zientara; Abigail Renie Agenda: Bill No. 03-11 —Rezone—5032 Miami Councilmember Oliver Davis, Vice-Chairperson, Zoning and Annexation Committee called upon Christa Nayder, a staff member of the Area Plan Commission to report on the re-zoning proposal. Christ reported that the petition was for property at the northwest corner of Jackson and Miami. The petitioner asked the parcel be rezoned to allow the construction of a 9,500 square foot office building for Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance offices. The building would be in a buffer area abutting residentially zoned parcels. Ms. Nayder noted the APC gave the petition a unanimous favorable recommendation to Council. Councilmember Varner asked if consideration had been given to possible height pollution. He was assured that would not be a problem. Vice-Chairperson Oliver Davis then called upon Abigail Renie representing Indiana Farm Bureau. She spoke of the ascetic aspects of the new building adding 12 employees would work out of the office. Councilmember Varner noting he had not heard opposition from his district moved to send the bill favorably. Councilmember LaFountain followed with a second. All concurred.
