Bond and contract for pavement on the lst. a_Iley north of LaSalle <br />✓ Avenue from Main Street to Lafayette Street, also lst. lley west of Fain Street from <br />La Salle Avenue to Madison Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 322, signed by <br />Harry N. Barnes as principal and The London & Lancashire Guarantee and;Aceident Company <br />as. sureties, was approved by the Board. <br />Mr. W. E. Bryan, Mgr. of the. South Billposting Company was present <br />f before the Board. The Board regyested Mr. Bryan to have billboard at the corner of <br />Vistula, Avenue and Ernsper.�er Street moved back far enough so as to relief the dangerous <br />condition &s it now stands , to'the travelirie,; public. <br />Ar.. Se i f'e rt , Councilman, appeared before the Board, requesting the <br />Board to open an alley between Notre Dame Avenue and St. Peter. Street from Corby Street <br />to Howard Street. The Board adopted the following resolution.,_. <br />CONDEMNATION RESOLUTION NO. 36. <br />Resolved by the Board. of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />Triat"'the following described property be appropriated for the use of said City: Begin— <br />ning at a point on the north line of Corby Street 126 Feet east of the east line of <br />St. Peter Street_;. thence northerly on a straight line to a, point on the south Line of <br />Howard Street 119.45 feet east of the east line of St. Peter Street; thence east 14 <br />feet; thence on a straight line to a point on the north line of Corby Street 14 feet east <br />of beginning; thence west 14 feet to the place of beginning. Begin a strip of land 7 <br />feet on each side of the northerly and southerly center line of block bounded by St. <br />Peter Street; Howard Street, Notre Dame Avenue and Corby Street. Excepting therefrom <br />the First East and !Nest Alley north of Corby Street which is already a Public Thorough— <br />fare. <br />The follov.3ng described property may be injuriously or beneficially af— <br />fected by such appropriation: Beginning at the intersection of tbe north line of Corby <br />Street; and the east line of St. Peter Street; thence north on the east line of St-' <br />Peter Street to the south line of =Toward Street; thence east on the south line of Howard <br />Street to the west line of Notre Dame Avenue; thence south on the west line of Notre <br />game Avenue to the north -line of Corby Street; thence west on -the north line of Corby <br />Street to the place of beginning. <br />The purpose of such appropriation is the opening of an alley between <br />Notre Dame Avenue and St. Peter Street from Corby Street to Howard Street. <br />Notice 4 tnis resolution shall be published on the 12th., day of <br />September,1914_and on the 19th., day of September .1914 in the South Bend Daily News — <br />Times. <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 6th., day of October <br />1914 at 7:45 P.M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or <br />affected by these proceedings. <br />Adopted this 9th., day of September,1914 <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS. <br />ORDER SELECTING KIIiD OF PAVEMENT. <br />Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Cottage Grove Avenue from <br />Jlichigan Avenue to Portage Avenue, in pursuance of Improvement Resolution 335 ,1914, the <br />?reliminary order gor the improvement heretofore adopted is hereby confirmed. <br />The Board now orders that so much of the said street is improved with <br />Asphalt and awardes the contract to Rankert & Eggleston they being the lowest and,best <br />bidders. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS.
