3S1 <br />Bond and contract for Pipe sewer on Campau Street from Walsh Street to <br />J Alley vast of Walsh Street, under Improvement Resolution Nos 305. signed by L. H. Webster <br />as principal and The Londan & Lancashire Guarantee and Accident Co., as surety, was approved <br />by the Board. <br />Bond and contract for concrete pavement on alley west of Main Street from <br />Marion Street to Navarre Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 305, signed by H. N. <br />Barnes as principal and American Surety Company of New York as surety was approved by the <br />Board. <br />The Electric light that was ordered placed at the corner of Golden Avenue <br />and Portage Avenue under date or May 26th. ,1914,N_.v,�, ordered change to the corner of Grant <br />Street and Sample Street. The placing of a light at this corner was recommended by the <br />Street Commissioner, as this was a very dark and dangerous place at night. <br />An excavation bond for the sum. of One Thousand ($1,000.004Dol.lars signed by <br />David R. Forgan,Edgar S. Bloom, Frank F. Fowle and John A. Moriarty,Receivers,Central <br />JUnion Telephone Company as principal, and the American Surety Company of New York as <br />surety was approved by the Board. <br />The Street Commissioner reported on the following intersections as being in <br />defective condition, and the Board ordered same repaired and put in. <br />/ At the corner of Huron Street a -rid Jackson Street. <br />V At the corner of Kosciuszko and Huron Street. <br />At the corner of Huron Street and Pulaski Street. <br />Complaint was filed with the Board by John F. Greiner of a pole which sets <br />at 616 South Fellows Street, right on top of sewer trap which has caused trouble to be <br />repaired, and which he would like to have removed. <br />The pole,and wire inspector reported as follows: This is a Central Union <br />Telephone pole. This pole was placed there a few years ago. An agreement was made between <br />the owner Mr John F. Greiner and the Central Union Telephone Company. As the pole or <br />cable was removed to the satisfaction of both parties, this pole is placed in the proper <br />place inside of the curb. A ground guy is placed in the lawn to support the pole. The <br />same was read and placed on file. <br />The street Commissioner reported on defective sidewalk at 723 and 910 North <br />Allen Street, -and the same was approved by the Board. <br />The street Commissioner made the following report on street light,,on W. <br />Division Street at the corner of Anthony Street. <br />Hon. Board of Public Works, <br />V'rentle4en :— <br />If your honorable Body wish to extend lights any farther out on Division <br />Street, this corner is just 2 blocks beyond the last light and is the proper place for same. <br />D.C.Layton, <br />Street Commissioner. <br />The Board ordered same placed on file to be taken up in two months (about August 18th.21914) <br />A complaint was received by the Board in regard to the safety of the buildi lg <br />at 502 East La Salle Avenue, occupied by Mr. Cohen and owned by Mr. Wm. Ber.gan. The Clerk <br />was instructed to notify the Safety Board by letter of such complaint. <br />Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for Concrete pavement on <br />/ Howard Street from Leeper Avenue to Niles Avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 217.In <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published for <br />six consecutive days in the South Bend Daily Tribune,commencing on the 22nd. day of June,1914 <br />stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount of such assessments at its office <br />in the City Hall on the 7th., day of July,1914 at 7:45 P.M. <br />Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contract be accepted <br />a,nd approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of t11s resolution shall be <br />published on the 22nd., day of June21914 in the South Bend Tribune, stating that this <br />Board will give a hearing on the acceptance of such work at its office in the City Hall <br />on the 7th., day of July,1914 at 7:45 P.M. <br />
