REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 14. 2011 43 on over $44,000,000.00 billed, there remains .48% of the total billed that is uncollectable, after several collection attempts. Mr. Inks questioned how that compared with last year. Mr. Gilot stated last year was nearly double. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the following Resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Works: RESOLUTION NO. 16 -2011 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR THE WRITE -OFF OF UNCOLLECTABLE UTILITY BILLED ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE FOR 2010 WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, through the Bureau of Water Works, billed various municipal services to customers; and WHEREAS, the unsuccessfully collected accounts receivable is written off after all attempt efforts are put forth to collect and recover the charges, complying with the Indiana State Board of Accounts for Bad Debts and Uncollectible Accounts; WHEREAS, the City of South Bend by and through its Board of Public Works, desires to write off various billed bad debt accounts. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, that a direct write off totaling $350,537 with collection and recovery totaling $137,670 resulting in a net write off of $212,867 for the year 2010. CITY OF SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS s/ Gary Gilot s/ Donald Inks s/ Carl Littrell ATTEST: s /Linda Martin, Clerk ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 17 -2011 --- A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND /OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the following Resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Works: RESOLUTION NO. 17 -2011 A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND /OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works that the following property is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and is no longer needed by the City of South Bend: MISCELLANEOUS COMPUTERS PRINTERS AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WHEREAS, Indiana Code 5 -22 -22 permits and establishes procedure for disposal of personal property which is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and which is no longer needed by the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend that the items listed above are no longer needed by the City; are unfit for the purpose for which they were intended and have an estimated value of less than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said items may be transferred or sold at public auction or private sale, without advertising. However, if the property is deemed worthless, such may be demolished or junked.
