REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 14. 2011 43 <br />on over $44,000,000.00 billed, there remains .48% of the total billed that is uncollectable, after <br />several collection attempts. Mr. Inks questioned how that compared with last year. Mr. Gilot <br />stated last year was nearly double. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell <br />and carried, the following Resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Works: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 16 -2011 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA BOARD OF PUBLIC <br />WORKS FOR THE WRITE -OFF OF UNCOLLECTABLE UTILITY BILLED <br />ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE FOR 2010 <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, through the Bureau of Water Works, billed various <br />municipal services to customers; and <br />WHEREAS, the unsuccessfully collected accounts receivable is written off after all <br />attempt efforts are put forth to collect and recover the charges, complying with the Indiana State <br />Board of Accounts for Bad Debts and Uncollectible Accounts; <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend by and through its Board of Public Works, desires to <br />write off various billed bad debt accounts. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of <br />South Bend, that a direct write off totaling $350,537 with collection and recovery totaling <br />$137,670 resulting in a net write off of $212,867 for the year 2010. <br />ADOPTED this 14th Day of February 2011. <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ Gary Gilot <br />s/ Donald Inks <br />s/ Carl Littrell <br />ATTEST: <br />s /Linda Martin, Clerk <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 17 -2011 --- A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD <br />OF PUBLIC WORKS ON DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND /OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the following Resolution <br />was adopted by the Board of Public Works: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 17 -2011 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON <br />DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND /OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works that the following property <br />is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and is no longer needed by the City of South <br />Bend: <br />MISCELLANEOUS COMPUTERS PRINTERS AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS <br />WHEREAS, Indiana Code 5 -22 -22 permits and establishes procedure for disposal of <br />personal property which is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and which is no longer <br />needed by the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of <br />South Bend that the items listed above are no longer needed by the City; are unfit for the purpose <br />for which they were intended and have an estimated value of less than five thousand dollars <br />($5,000.00). <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said items may be transferred or sold at public <br />auction or private sale, without advertising. However, if the property is deemed worthless, such <br />may be demolished or junked. <br />
