REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 24, 2007 <br />Councilmember Puzzello made a motion to continue this bill until the October 8, 2007, <br />meeting of the Council at the request of the petitioner. Councilmember Dieter seconded <br />the motion which carried by a voice vote of seven (7) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 60-07 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL TO VACATE THE <br />FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY, THE ALLEY <br />TO BE VACATED IS THE FIRST NORTH/SOUTH <br />ALLEY WEST OF DALE STREET, FROM DAYTON <br />STREET TO THE FIRST EAST/WEST ALLEY FOR A <br />DISTANCE OF 153.5 FEET AND A WIDTH OF 14 FEET <br />Councilmember Varner, Chairperson, Public Works and Property Vacation Committee, <br />reported that this committee held a Public Hearing on this bill this afternoon and voted to <br />send it to the full Council with a favorable recommendation. <br />Mr. Domingo Flores, Jr., 901 E. Dayton Street, South Bend, Indiana, made the <br />presentation for this bill. <br />Mr. Flores stated that the purpose of the vacation is to consolidate the two properties that <br />he owns. He stated that it would prevent trash from getting thrown on a daily basis and <br />make it a safe place for his children to play. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents <br />and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this bill, Councilmember Dieter made a motion for favorable <br />recommendation to full Council concerning this bill. Councilmember Varner seconded <br />the motion which carried by a voice vote of seven (7) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 58-07 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL FIXING MAXIMUM <br />SALARIES AND WAGES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS <br />AND NON-BARGAINING EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE CALENDAR <br />YEAR 2008 <br />Councilmember Varner made a motion to amend this bill as on file in the Office of the <br />City Clerk. Councilmember Dieter seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote <br />of seven (7) ayes. <br />Councilmember Varner, Vice-Chairperson, Personnel & Finance Committee, reported <br />that this committee held a meeting this afternoon and sends it to the full Council with a <br />favorable recommendation with the amended detail. <br />Ms. Catherine Fanello, Controller, 12~` Floor County-City Building, South Bend, Indiana, <br />made the presentation for this bill. <br />Ms. Fanello advised that the amended version of the bill is on file with the Office of the <br />City Clerk and she would be happy to answer any questions that the Council might have. <br />This being the time heretofore set for Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this bill, Councilmember Dieter made a motion for favorable <br />recommendation as amended and on file in the Office of the City Clerk.
