The Special Exception is necessary to correct a technical zoning issue with the current site zoning requirements as the proposed stadium improvements will expand the overall footprint of the park area beyond the current site limits. The Commission, as owner of land adjacent to the park into which the park area would expand, would be a co-petitioner with the South Bend Park Commission, the present owner of the Cove property. This resolution also requests Commission approval to allow Wightman Petrie, Inc., to represent the Commission and serve as its agent during the exception approval process. Lastly, the Resolution would authorize Don Inks to sign any documents related to the special exception petition. Staff requests favorable approval of this Resolution.
