AGENDA REVIEW SESSION JUNE 21, 2018 192
programmed with the existing river lights. Mr. Gilot noted these will be located in the white
water in front of the Century Center Hall. Mr. Sherman stated they will save a lot of electricity.
Mr. Eric Horvath questioned if there will be additional contracts brought to the Board, asking if
this is just the Professional Services Agreement. Mr. Sherman confirmed another contract will
come to the Board for the work.
- Award Bid — Berlin Place Site
Mr. Kyle Silveus, Engineering, stated there is a Development Agreement in the works that will
cover the difference in the budget and this bid. Ms. Maradik noted it should be awarded subject
to funding.
- Request to Advertise for Bids — Fat Daddy's Building Demolition
Mr. Silveus noted this building is becoming dangerous and a source of safety concerns so they
have decided to demolish it after attempts at development failed.
- Professional Services Agreement — Beam, Longest, and Neff LLC
Mr. Gilot suggested to Mr. Silveus they should have a public meeting on this pedestrian bridge at
Leeper Park, noting there has been some neighborhood resistance in his past experience. Mr.
Horvath stated that part won't happen in this agreement, this is more of a feasibility study. He
noted if it comes back as a feasible project, then at that point there should be a meeting with the
River Bend Neighborhood.
- Standards and Specifications Update
Mr. Gilot asked if the Board had anything to review to show the updates. Ms. Kara Boyles, City
Engineer, noted she sent a pdf of the revisions to the City Standards and Specification for the
Board to review. Mr. Gilot requested she do a brief paragraph with bullet points of the
highlights. Ms. Boyles stated she would and informed Mr. Gilot that they met with consultants
and the revised documents have been posted online for sixty (60) to ninety (90) days since the
meeting. She stated she requested comments but have only gotten a couple, and those were
incorporated into the revisions. Ms. Boyles noted there are still three (3) sections that will be
done at a later date. Attorney DeRose suggested this policy should be adopted through a
resolution. The Board agreed to revise the agenda to change the adoption of the City of South
Bend Standards and Specifications to a Resolution.
No other business came before the Board. Upon a motion by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Ms.
Maradik and carried, the meeting adjourned at 11:22 a.m.
BOARD OF PUBLIC`WORKS
Gary A. Gilot, President
Elizabetfi A.'
