Meyer & Son, Inc. <br />.82 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT Chief Freeh present: <br />Matters pertaining to the Fire Department were discus,aed.'with <br />the Chief in general. <br />It was regularly moved by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Woodward <br />and carried that Russell J. Hoffman be put on the Fire Department as <br />of February 16th, subject to assignment of ' �the Chief of the Fire <br />Department and to -examination by Poli.e.e,Dootor and also subject <br />to his being accep . ted by the Pension Board of the Fire Department. <br />His salary to be the same as allowed probation firemen for the first <br />six months. <br />Application for position on the Fire Department was received from <br />Henry Gustave Backgren and ordered placed on file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr Qualls present: <br />Matters pertaining to the Electrical Department were discussed <br />in general. <br />The matter of Frank Roytek was brought up in reference to an <br />obligation to Miss Nelson for rent. The Board instructed Mr. Qualls <br />to have Roytek see the Clerk and arrange for disposition of the account <br />and arrangements have been made for liquidating the account on a <br />satisfactory basis. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - Chief Lane present: <br />The Chief of Police reported tentatively in regard to the trip <br />made by Assistant Chief Diedrich and Officer Berner on the Studebaker <br />Safety Trip and stated that a detailed report would be in the hands of <br />the Board at its next meeting. <br />The matter of enforcement o <br />and also the question of tickets <br />ordereda ticket to be purchased <br />without making any change in-the <br />The Chief and the Secretary were <br />to be used. <br />P parking was discussed with the Chief <br />used in this connection. The Board <br />along the same lines as that now used <br />policy at the present time followed. <br />instructed to decide on the ticket <br />In regard to the placing of telephones in the Police Department <br />and the arrangement for operation after five o'clock in the evening <br />was referred to the Chief and to the Telephone-Company. <br />The Chief of Police submitted report of the Radio Department for <br />the month of January which was ordered placed on file. <br />The South Bend Automotive Trade Association, in a letter addressed <br />to the Board signed by Earl E.
