Ulu, <br />MEETING Tanuary 13, 1936 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />Tanuary-13, 1936 at 9:00 A. M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of previous meeting were read'and approved. <br />Requisitions numbers 08814 to 08826, inclusive, were approved. <br />Claims in the amount of 4390.92 were approved and ordered paid, also, <br />salaries amounting to $13.44. <br />D&n R. Bend X-Ray Lab. 5.00 <br />Central Electric Co. 11.52 Bureau of Motor Vehicles .50 <br />Central Electric Co. 7.20 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Freeh present: <br />It Was moved by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Woodward and un- <br />animously carried that Mr. Boyd Lower., a fireman injured recently in a <br />collision with a street car and permanently incapacitated, beplaced <br />on pension beginning February 1st. <br />1 <br />It was moved by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Woodward and <br />unanimously carried that the Fire Chief be authorized to purchase <br />search light equipment, this be made up of the following: <br />1 - Model R Generator, 1500 Watt and 110 Volt <br />2 - Search Light Lamps, 500 Watt <br />1 - Search Light Lamp, 250 Watt <br />200 Ft. of Cord <br />Total cost $450.00. <br />A communication was received from Eli F. Seebirt in reference to <br />Otto Pfaffenbach on the Fire Department, stating that Harry L. Davis <br />had secured a judgment against the fireman in the amount of 4200.00 <br />and that nothing had been paid on this. The matter was referred to <br />the Fire Chief to bring the matter to the fireman's attention and to <br />report to the Board later. <br />Acommunication was received from F. R. Nicholas Carter, Secretary <br />of the Board of Health, in which he advised that it was a pleasure to <br />be of service during the recent severe fire on Michigan Street and <br />that he expected no fee for his services. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - Assistant Chief Diedrich present: <br />A discussion was had with reference to the fire hazard in front <br />of the Palace Theatre and, after consulting Fire Chief as well as the <br />Assistant Chief of Police, it was moved by Mr. Anderson, seconded by <br />Mr. Woodward and unanimously carried that the hazard at point mentioned <br />be removed by establishing a no parking zone in front of the entrances <br />and It was also arranged that firemen are <br />exits to this Theatre. . <br />stationed at this Theatre at night are to co operate with the Police <br />I -, <br />K <br />Department in keeping this zone clear. <br />It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that Sergeant Bert <br />Olmstead be authorized to give instructions t officers on the Police <br />Force in disarmament, this to be done at the convenience of the <br />Sergeant.and the officers. <br />The matter of purchasing a chair stretcher was discussed and the <br />indicated Assistant Chief of Police i it would be of very material <br />assistance in ambulance work to hav e such a stretcher. The cost is <br />thorizedo <br />approximately 416-00 and the purchase of same was au <br />A request was received from the International Harvester Company, <br />1319 South LaFayette Street, for 3 hour parking signs on the west side. <br />of LaFayette Street from their drive to Broadway - about three car <br />lengths. This matter was referred to the Police Department and to <br />Mr. Ernest H.
