Councilmember Karen White seconded the motion which <br /> carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> SPECIAL BUSINESS <br /> SOUTH BEND CUBS UPDATE- ANDREW BERLIN <br /> Andrew Berlin, 20 Maple Hill, Glencoe, IL, CEO of the South Bend Cubs, served as presenter for <br /> this update. Mr. Berlin stated, Thank you very much and I appreciate you having me. I know this <br /> is maybe an extracurricular and an item on the agenda that you usually don't have. I have to say, <br /> we are going into our seventh(7th)season as a South Bend franchise. It used to be the Silver Hawks <br /> and now it is the Cubs. We started with a partnership with the City and we took it very seriously. <br /> With me today is Joe Hart who is the President of the South Bend Cubs. We started a while ago <br /> with a couple things in mind. (Referencing a presentation available in the City Clerk's Office) We <br /> started a while ago with a couple things in mind. On November 11th, 2011, which was 11/11/11, I <br /> signed a contract with Joe Hart at 11:11 a.m. The reason being is that elevens (11) in baseball are <br /> superstitious and we are a superstitious group. Wall Street Journal years ago did a study and <br /> seventy-five (75%) of baseball fans believe there is something they can and can't do to affect an <br /> outcome of the game. It is the case with me, as well. On Armistice Day, Apollo Eleven (11) was <br /> the first (1S) Lunar Module on the moon. We thought it would be a good sign and good omen to <br /> sign this on November 11th <br /> 1 <br />
