MEETING October 21, 1935 <br />-Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Mon <br />October 21, 1935 at 8:30 A. M. Mr. Hunter was absent. day, <br />Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Requisitions bearin numbers 08677 to 08685, inclusive:, were approved. <br />Claims in the amount of 1370.74, from the following suppliers, were <br />approved and ordered paid. <br />City Water Works <br />G. 0. Anderson 10.99 <br />15.00 City Water Works 28.30 <br />1.74 Gafill Oil Company 15.10 <br />2.75 Gafill Oil Company 2.45 <br />4.90 City Water Works .85 <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. Qualls present: <br />The communication from the Bendix Products Corporation, requesting a <br />stop light at Bendix Drive 'and Goodland Avenue, which had previously been <br />referred to Mr. Qualls and Mr. Miller of the Engineering Department, was <br />again referred to Mr. Qualls for further investigation and recommendation. <br />Mr. Miller's report has been received by the Board. <br />Report of Mr. Qualls' of October 11th, in reference to illumination <br />at, the Bottle Neck north of North Shore Drive, was referred back to him <br />for further investigation and recommendation at the next meeting. <br />Expense account of Mr. F. J. Bock for his attendance at the Radio <br />Convention at Indianapolis was considered by the Board and.the Secretary <br />was instructed to inform Mr. Bock that this would be passed if he would <br />furnish receipts for his bus fare and Hotel bill. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Freeh present: <br />Matters pertaining to the Fire Department were discussed, but there_, <br />being nothing of importance no action was taken. <br />Application for position on the Fire Department by Raymond W. Darling <br />was ordered placed on file. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - Chief Lane present: <br />A Petition from three hundred and forty nine residents -and business- <br />men in the vicinity of Indiana Avenue, headed by Mr. Ignatz Mittermeyer, <br />was presented to the Board requesting no parking, or at least not more <br />than fifteen minute parking, on the south side of Indiana Avenue from <br />Prairie Avenue to Michigan Street. Due to some contraversy and perhaps <br />some misrepresentation, a counter Petition was received from the Indiana <br />Avenue Business Men's Association requesting that no change be made in the <br />parking situation on Indiana Avenue. Due to this conflict of desires,--the <br />Board requested those present to iron out their differences and come before. <br />the Board with a definite understanding as to the wishes of all interested. <br />Petitions were ordered placed on file. <br />Continuation certificate in favor of Patrolman Russell D. Hampton and <br />Assistant Chief William Diedrich, in the Maryland Casualty Company of <br />Baltimore, were approved and ordered placed on file. <br />I I <br />A Petition signed by John Buczkowski, President of the Polish-American <br />Central Civic Committee, requesting that the Board not consider routing <br />truck and bus traffic through Western Avenue for reasons set forth in the <br />Petition, is on file in the Board of Public Safety. He was informed that <br />no definite action had been taken with reference to routing bus and truck <br />traffic through any part of the City and that. the matter had not progress ed <br />far enough to make any definite statements.. I I <br />Chief Lane discussed with the Board the conditions prevailing in the <br />Police Department and minor changes which have been made in the personnel, <br />but there being nothing of importance, no action was taken. <br />The meeting adjourned at 11:15 A.
