.Igi � <br />MEETING <br />August 19, 1935 <br />Regular meeting of the Board <br />of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />August 19, 1935 at 8:45 A. M. <br />All members were present. <br />The minutes of.meeting of <br />August 12th were read and approved. <br />Requisitions bearing numbers <br />08608 to 08611, inclusive, wereapproved. <br />Claims in the amount of 4451.77, <br />from the following suppliers, were <br />approved and ordered paid. <br />Goodyear Service <br />$1.75 The Signal Service Corp. <br />V21.97 <br />Office Supply & Equip. Co. <br />12.00 Indiana Bell Telephone Co., <br />.6.75 <br />Office Supply & Equip. Co. <br />2.40 L. J. Lane <br />8.26 <br />Gottlob Fritz <br />8.00 City Water Works <br />375.20 <br />South Bend Supply Co. <br />2.87 City Water Works <br />12.57 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Freeh <br />present: <br />Matters pertaining to his <br />department were discussed. <br />A report from The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance <br />Company on Boiler No. 1 at Central Fire Station stated in part as follows: <br />"Due to the age and general detiorated condition of this boi ' ler (built in <br />1902) and to repairs needed in retubing and the indications on shell <br />plates at girth seam that repairs will be needed within the next year we <br />would advise that consideration be given to the installation of a new <br />boiler." The matter was referred to Mr. Anderson to obtain figures from <br />boiler men on the cost of new boiler and installation and report at the <br />next meeting of the Board. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - Chief Lane present: <br />Matters in general pertaining to the Police Department were discussed. <br />A communication from the Traffic Survey Committee was read in which <br />it was stated that Mr. Gunderson of the Chicago Motor Club'considered the <br />plan a very good one of the South Bend News-Times to be worked out with <br />aid of the City Engineering Department, the traffic division.of the <br />Police Department and the Boy Scouts of South Bend in painting symbols at <br />the location of every automobile accident in South Bend since the first <br />of the year to date. <br />A letter from the Traffic Survey Department concerning dangerous <br />condition in the 900 block Portage Avenue caused by care parked there by <br />Ward Baking Company employees and recommending that they be instructed to <br />park their cars elsewhere was referred to the Police Department. <br />Official bond of Casimer Luzny in the United States Fidelity and <br />`Guaranty Company was approved by the Board. <br />Continuation certificate on special police officer's bond of Karl <br />Everett Koontz in The Employers Liability Assurance Corporation was <br />approved by the Board. <br />Police application of Vere DeSonia was received and ordered placed <br />on file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. Qualls present: <br />Matters in general pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:45 A.
