A communication from A. A. Knepper, Secretary of the Grace Evangelical t <br />Church, requesting a traffic _light at Lincoln Way West and Walnut Streets, <br />was received and action was withh6Td pending traffic survey now in progress. <br />Special: police commissions were approved for the following employees of <br />the Studebaker Corporation: M. Buczkowski, P. Widup, 1. Klawinski, H. Mielke, <br />A. Phillips, F. L. Herrick, A. Bailey, E. L. McMillen,.-W. S Gundeck, L. Green, <br />G. S. Goebel, T. Miller, E. Henthorn, B. Fowler and R.A. Vail. <br />Special police commission for D. Edwin Tucker, employed by the Sailor Home <br />Furniture Company, was approved subject to securing a request from the Furniture <br />Company to issue this commission. <br />The Secretary of,the Board reported that lubricating oil being purchased <br />fr m the Gafill Oil Company for the City or any of its departments could be <br />se ured at a price of 49¢ per gallon, while the same oil furnished to the Water <br />Wo ks would have to be billed at 53¢'. The reason being that the City, being <br />mu icipally operated, is entitled to refund of the Federal Tax of 40 per gallon <br />which the Water Works cannot obtain: It was decided to purchase the oil for <br />the City through the Board of Safety .instead of through the Water Works - which <br />has been done for the last three months, and that the City Attorney world <br />investigate the law to see if the City could purchase the oil for the dater <br />Works to obtain this refund. <br />The meeting adjourned at 11:15 A.
