<br />1 35 at 8:30 A. Iv1. All members were present. 
<br />minutes of meeting of March 25, 1935 were read and approved.

<br />discussion was had concerning the condition of fire stations and the Chief 
<br />eported in detail as to repairs necessary on the buildings at this time. 
<br />he Chief was instructed to investigate the cost of repairing the roof on 
<br />he Central Station and report at next meeting. The matter of removing the 
<br />ell on the Central Station was also discussed but no action was taken. 
<br />epairs necessary to the American LaFrance Engine were authorized. 
<br />,eference to paper tape used in reporting fire alarms and return of hose 
<br />ompanies to their stations, the Board directed the Chief to secure this 
<br />'rom the alarm station in the future. 
<br />he Chief requested the privilege of purchasing a clock for the Central 
<br />tation and he was directed to confer with the Secretary and if it can be 
<br />ad at approximately five dollars permission to purchase is granted.

<br />ontract to furnish ambulance service for all indigents requesting such 
<br />service and an agreement was entered into as follows signed and approved by

<br />ereinafter referred to as the Contractor, and the City of South Bend in 
<br />the County of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, by and through its Board of 
<br />Public Works and Safety, hereinafter referred to as The ,City under. and by 
<br />virtue of an act of the General assembly of the State of Indiana entitled 
<br />"An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations" and approved 11.diaroh 6, 1905, and 
<br />all amendatory and supplemental acts thereto, 4`dITNESSETH That - 
<br />The Contractor covenants and agrees to furnish ambulance service for all 
<br />indigents requesting such service from the city of South Bend other than 
<br />emergency cases, and vill further furnish said city ambulance service in 
<br />ease of emergency when a second call is required. 
<br />The Contractor further expressly covenants and agrees that he will furnish 
<br />twenty -four (24) hour service and will be available subject to call frolri 
<br />the proper authorities; that he will excercise prot:)er skill and care and 
<br />properly guard and protect all persons thus coming into his care by direc- 
<br />tion of said city. 
<br />That in the event of any injury or damage resulting from his service or 
<br />resulting from any matter or thing connected therewith or arising therefrom 
<br />to any Oerson or property, for which the City would be liable, he will pay 
<br />and liquidate the same at his own expense and assume the liability therefor. 
<br />And in the event of any claim or claims being made or any action or actions 
<br />being brought against the City by reason or on account of or grolj%ring out 
<br />of said work, the said contractor will, at his own expense, defend the same, 
<br />and will pay any judgment recovered therein, and will, in all respects, 
<br />fully indemnify and save harmless said city, its officers, agents or rep - 
<br />resentatives from all cost, expense, payilent or judgment recovered in 
<br />connection with said claim or claims, action or actions.
