RE-dUt A, R-' , ,iE,2' T, T'N'('T' <br />Regular meeting of the Board of 'Public Safety was held on.Tuesday, <br />February 6, 1934 at 9:00 A. M. <br />The newly appointed member, W. T. McSorley, and the Messrs. Trost <br />and Gadacz present. <br />Moved by Mr. Trost and seconded Py Mr. Gadacz that nominations be <br />opened for the offices of President and Vice-President of the Board. <br />On motion made by 1,1r. Trost and seconded by Mr. Gadacz, Mr. Gadacz <br />was nominated and unanimously elected as President. <br />On motion made by 11VIr. Trost and seconded by 11r. Gadacz, 14r. Co.-Tan. Elect. Dept. service 52.95 <br />Northern Indiana Public Serv. Co.-Dec, Elect. Dept. Service 1.35 <br />a total of all bills, $449.61. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: <br />Fire Chief, Roy A. Knoblock, was present and reported the activities <br />of his department. <br />The Boards attention was called to the unsafe condition of the <br />department's boat, which is used in dragging the river. Fire Chief, <br />Knoblock was instructed to obtain prices of boats of that type and <br />report same at the next meeting. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: <br />Acting Chief of Police, Horace M. Hamilton reported the activities <br />of the departments and submitted reports of the department for the <br />month of January. <br />A letter foom the Mayor regarding alleged gambling and vice conditions <br />in the city was read. <br />The Board reaffirmed its orders that Xf such conditions must be <br />eradicated if found to exist. <br />On motion by Mr. Trost°, seconded by Mr. McSorley and unanimously <br />carried, it was resolved that no officer, off duty, shall work in <br />any place where beer is sold, and Chief Hamilton was instructed to <br />issue orders to that effect. <br />Officer Kochanowski presented the Gasoline Report for January. <br />ELECTRICAL DEP Ahw.t <br />Eu-perintendent, Tiff. F. Quahis,"wa's present and the activities of his <br />department were discussed. <br />Operator Hunsberger was granted his request for a two week vacation. <br />WEIGHTS & MEASURES: <br />Report.o? -City Sealer, Charles J. Burns,, was read, approved and ordered <br />placed on file. <br />By unanimous agreement, the regular meeting date was changed from <br />Monday morning to Saturday afternoon at 2:00 O•clock P.
