Councilmember Oliver Davis stated, I would also like to say something. Having you and Mr. Panzica work together was nice to see. It benefits you and it benefits the City. I told you earlier I like the design. It is going to be great. Councilmember Jo M. Broden stated, Thank you for your investment and welcome to the fourth district. Councilmember Gavin Ferlic made a motion to adopt Bill No. 18-19. Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded this motion which carried by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. RESOLVE INTO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE At 7:43 p.m. Councilmember Karen White made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole. Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. Councilmember Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson,presiding. Councilmember Gavin Ferlic explained the procedures to be followed for tonight's meeting in accordance with Article 1, Section 2-11 of the South Bend Municipal Code. Councilmember Karen White made a motion to suspend the rules to hear Bill No. 14-18 before Bill No. 05-18. Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the motion which carried unanimously by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. PUBLIC HEARINGS BILL NO. 14-18 PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE AND SEEKING A SPECIAL EXCEPTION FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1619 S MICHIGAN STREET, COUNCILMANIC DISTRICT NO. 3 IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA Councilmember Tim Scott made a motion to continue Bill No. 14-18 until the May 28th, 2018 Common Council meeting. Councilmember Karen White seconded the motion which carried unanimously by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. 05-18 PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 3527 LINCOLN WAY WEST, COUNCILMANIC DISTRICT NO. 1 IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (COUNCIL PORTION ONLY) Councilmember Gavin Ferlic stated, Councilmember Williams-Preston and I had the opportunity to meet with the adjacent property owners and I really appreciate both side's willingness to meet and have, what I thought to be, a productive discussion. Following that we met with the attorney for the petitioner and review their written commitments. Those were submitted to the Council and a statement from the adjacent property owner was also submitted to the Council regarding their opinion on the matter. Councilmember Regina Williams-Preston stated, I want to thank the two (2) parties. This was something I specifically requested was the opportunity to come together and maybe be able to work some things out to exist peacefully in the same space. I think we had a great conversation and I appreciate both parry's willingness to come to the table. 8
