All members present. <br />J ` <br />Bids were ordered re -advertised for Grade on lst. alley North of Madison Street <br />from St. Louis Street to St: Peter Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 288 <br />To be advertised September 17th.,1913 and September 24th.11913 in the South Benda <br />Daily News -Times, stating that this Board will receive bids for the said improve- <br />ment on the 30th., day of September,1913 at 10. 00 A.M. <br />Communication re ceived. feom Mr. C.H.Defrees regarding pavii,g material on Dunham <br />Street. The same was read. and placed on file. As follows: <br />To the Board of Public Works., <br />of the City of South Bend, <br />Gentlemen: - <br />In regard to the Dunham St. paveme_t awarded for Barr Clay Block, it y <br />will be impossible for me'to get the Barr Clay Block and finish the street in t4- <br />specified time. <br />I will ask - of your honorable body to change the block to the Wabash. <br />Clay $lock so I can complete the street in the specified time. <br />t, <br />Yours very respectively submitted., <br />C.H. DEFREES. <br />JIn the matter of the pavement of Dunham Street Brick Pavement, C. H. <br />Defrees the contractor for said pavement represented that it would be impossible for <br />him to get Barr Clay Block Brick to complete the said contract in the time specified <br />or even in the fall of 1913, but he could complete the same within the specified <br />time if allowed to use Wabash Clay Block. <br />The Exgineer reported that the quality of� Wabash: Brick is fully equal <br />to the said .Barr Clay Block, and the street if paved with Wabash Clay Block, will <br />be in every possible respect as good as if paved with Barr Clay Block. <br />Now Therefore, Be It Resolved by the Board cif Public Works that the <br />contract with said. C. H.Defrees for the pavement of Dunham Street between Arrold <br />Street and Harris Street be modified to allow the pavement of said Street with <br />Wabash Clay Block ixstead of Barr Clay Block <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS. <br />e <br />President. <br />
