Klo,sinski, Assistant City Engineer
SUBJECT: Agenda Request Form — Reject Bids
Wastewater / Water Laboratory Equipment Procurement
Inductively Coupled Plasma — Optical Emission Spectrometer
The Division of Utilities is requesting the Board of Public Works reject all quotations for the
Wastewater / Water Laboratory Equipment procurement of an Inductively Coupled Plasma —
Optical Emission Spectrometer.
This recommendation is provided with the advisement of the Legal Department. The
recommendation addresses the response to a message provided by Martia Ross (lntellisource
Bids Response Specialist) on behalf of Max Keough, Account Manager for Agilent Technologies
a supplier of ICP-OES equipment. Mr. Keough challenged the specification and its
inclusiveness to facilitate manufacturers whose hardware varied from the specifications but
would be capable of achieving similar testing capabilities.
To provide a more inclusive specifications and to facilitate potentially more competitive
quotations, the Division of Utilities will revise the quotation package to accommodate a broader
range of equipment manufacturers for the supply of the [CP-OES equipment.
We recommend that the Board of Public Works take action at the April 24, 2018 Board of Public
Works Regular meeting to reject all quotations for this equipment quotation.
The funding sources for the professional services agreement is Utilities, Wastewater, Capital
Account (Fund 642).
If there are any questions regarding the subject project, please contact Al Greek (Ext. 4210) or
Jacob M. Klosinski (Ext. 9496) at the Division of Utilities,
Zffl 2 4 ',(Jl
............
