February. 14, 2018
Dear Members of the Area Plan Commission:
RE: Women's Care Center petition for rezoning
The Women's Care Center, after paying approximately twice the average rate for
properties in the area, now is petitioning for rezoning of the property at 3527 Lincoln Way
West in South Bend. Clearly, they are well funded and have an agenda. That agenda appears
to be restraint of trade regarding the property to the east, to be operated as a clinic by the
Whole Women's Health Alliance.
The history of the Women's Care Center which, in the past, purchased property adjacent to
a women's clinic, operated by a different entity, just off of Ironwood Drive, was
intimidation of clientele and disruption of the business. It appears that their aim in this
proposal: rezoning, modification of the existing structure and construction of parking
spaces, points to a repetition of these activities. This time their target will be the Whole
Women's Health Alliance clinic immediately to their east. In addition to their intimidation
tactics, there again will be probable creation of civil disturbances. Given these outcomes,
which almost certainly will create both financial and emotional costs for the taxpayers of this
community, we urge a"no"vote on this rezoning petition.
Respectfully,
Jeanette S. & Laurence R. Taylor
804 Oak Ridge Drive
South Bend, IN 46617
FEB 1 U
AREA PLAN;1,OMMISS10N
