Motion •prevailed to instruct Clerk to purchase chains for the PyIotor patrols and other police cars that are now without skid chains. 11ption prevailed to instruct Clerk to purchase, One 1926 edition of W Burns Revised Indiana Statutes and Index" to be used by the :T "olice Dept. ;.hiss Van pert Secretary of the South Bend Retail Credit AsEfoeiation appeared before the Board and requested .that the 'olice De pt. take measures to bring about better observence of City Ordinance # 1954 requiring all persons to obtain per. -iits to leave vacent premises in a sanitary condition. Tzotion prevailed to obtain an opinion from City Attorny Romig as to his interpetca,tion of the ordinance so that the proper seeps for-its strict enforcement can be taken. The following motion was adapted. after being introduced by Mr. Nicely and seconded by 11r. Reeder. Rudynski, and the vacency left by , the resigination of Officer C ordier the "Police Dept is somewhat " hand icaAJpd. C"hief Hatt suggested. that due to the shortage of Police 4) ~ficersat this time it would be advisable to appoint an applicant whofhad previous - police experience, and that he be assigned to duty immeadiaatly. On a motion by 1-Jr. Nicely and being seconded by Mr,.
