~~ <br />i~~~ ~~ ` , <br />E "m' -x~aw'' <br />PARC Committee <br />2007 Sough Renci Common Council <br />The June 25, 2007 meeting of the PARC Committee of the South Bend Common <br />Council was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Ann Puzzello at 3:15 <br />p.m. in the Council's Informal Meeting Room. <br />Persons in attendance included Council Members Kuspa, Kelly, Varner, Rouse, Kirsits, <br />White and Puzzello; Martha Lewis, City Controller M. Catherine Fanelloā€˛ Citizen <br />Member Mark D. Tulchinsky, City Clerk John Voorde, Dennis Andres, Gary Gilot, Jason <br />Durr, Cheryl Greene, Dan Osberger, Jamie Loo of the South Bend Tribune and <br />Kathleen Cekanski-1=arrand, Council Attorney. <br />Council Member Puzzello noted that the Committee consisted of Council Members <br />Dieter, Kuspa, Kirsits and herself; and Citizen Member Mark D. Tulchinsky. <br />Substitute Biill No. 35-07': Pro osed Ordinance Pro osin New Non- <br />Revertin Morris Performin Arts Center & Palais Ro ale <br />Marketing Fund <br />Council Member Puzzello called for a formal presentation on Substitute Bill No. 35-07 <br />which would amend Chapter 2, Article 14 of the South Bend Municipal Code to add a <br />new Section 2-170.10 establishing anon-reverting "Morris Performing Arts Center and <br />Palais Royale Marketing Fund" {copy attached). <br />Dennis J. Andres, Executive Director of the Morris Performing Arts Center and the <br />Palais Royale made the formal presentation. He noted that the objective is to book <br />more quality events which would result in greater attendance. This would require more <br />advertising funds so that the facilities and the events could be better marketed. The <br />Morris and Palais would not be selling advertising but rather soliciting sponsorships for <br />support of such items as ticket envelopes, tickets, etc. <br />In response to a question from Dr. Varner, Mr. Andres stated that this would be done <br />with his current staff. <br />In response to a question from Citizen Member Tulchinsky, Mr. Andres stated that he <br />projects that approximately $25,000 would be generated each year. <br />Following discussion, Council Member Kuspa made a motion, seconded by Citizen <br />Member Tulchinsk' that Substitute Bill No. 35-07 be recommended favorably to Council. <br />The motion passe. <br />
